Paper Playground
The only limit to what you can create with a piece of paper is your own imagination. At Paper Playground, the brand-new exhibit built specifically with the Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center community in mind, visitors will cut, fold, tear, and tape until what once was a simple scrap of paper becomes the stuff of dreams. The Paper Playground exhibit features regularly changing challenges and activities, creating new experiences every time you visit!
This hands-on experience is designed specifically with the Fort Bend community in mind, giving visitors of all ages the opportunity to tear into something new every time they visit. From cutting and folding to build and stacking, "Paper Playground" offers endless paper possibilities that will reshape your imagination. Featuring regularly changing challenges and activities in English and Spanish, this exhibit ensures that no two visits are ever quite the same. Activities include:
Cardboard Creations
The back half of the exhibit is dedicated to building, stacking, and exploring an immersive world made of cardboard boxes. With regularly changing challenges, you can help us construct a Cardboard Castle, or plan a Cardboard City, or build a Cardboard Maze.
Paper Puppets
Design your own paper puppet then use it to tell a story in the Puppet Theater.
Paper Planes
Design your own paper airplanes and launch them through hoops and targets.
Wind Towers
Design an aerial device and watch it soar through the Wind Towers.
Cut/Tear/Fold
Cut, tear, fold, crease, tape, crinkle, crumple, and glue—this open-ended activity lets kids explore paper manipulation on their own terms. Perfect for young children working on their fine motor skills.
